Write on board: Date; TAKE the train, the subway, the bus; RIDE a motorcycle, bike; walk; drive. Wh- words (including why… because); opinion words.

7:20 BOOK: Exercise 1 (tape) After listening: In pairs, make small talk as your character. You can use the model in your book, but think about new things to talk about. Help each other with vocab. Find out one interesting thing about the person.

Sitting: what did you find out about your partner?

How did they transition from small talk to deeper talk. Did you get to opinions?
7:35 Book: Exercise 2 (tape) Who is familiar with There is/isn’t/are/aren’t. What’s the difference? In Spanish? How do we make questions with that form? In Spanish. Note differences. Fill out the chart.
7:45 Proverb: “The more you know, the more you know you don’t know.” 1) Do you have something like that in Spanish? 2) Answer as yourself. Stand on continuum and tell us why you’re there.
8:00 Book: Exercise 3 (tape) Play tape. After listening, express your opinion as your CHARACTER, and agree or disagree with the other and explain why.

8:15 In This Room (Book 4) Review chart 4. Look at homework together. If time: Scatter objects around room. Divide groups of four. Model activity. Walk around and notice what there is or isn’t. Q&As too.

Be creative.

8:30 Book: Exercise 5 & 6: More talking faces. Listen. Use Why… because. Characters talk about their favorite city.
8:40 Touch Go touch and stand next to your favorite object in the classroom. Why… because.
8:45 Book: Exercise 7: homonyms Explain there, their, they’re. Fill in exercise and review together. Ball toss after.
8:55 HOMEWORK: Write an idea for one short activity or topic you’d like to do in the last class. ALSO: Bring in yr fave Mexican song for me: name/artist, or song itself. Brainstorm ideas together.
