Organizational goal: Finish activities 4 through 7

Set up: Arrange seating. Hang poster in back or side of room. Write on board: Endangered & Extinct Animals; tally for positive and negative behavior; agenda:

5:00 Que paso en la clase pasada. Discuss what happened last class. Strange: I found my sticky stuff on the stairs. And I wondered: why would someone do that.

Give rules. I’m going to keep track of people who do good things in class: listen, show respect, are quiet, try to learn English.

Write down one thing you did that was not helpful to the class.

Review rules. Sign two copies. Paste your notebook. We will be sticking with these rules.

Establish order
5:15 Show homework Come to front of class and tell people about your animal. Ss ask person ONE question about it. Personalize. Warmup: start thinking about animals.
5:25 Simon Says Set up animals. Call on Ss one at a time to pick ONE thing that is: extinct, eats meat, is long, eats plants, is endangered. Choose it. Face the class and say a sentence about it. Movement and reinforcement of vocabulary
5:30 Endangered Animals After reading, answer definition questions. Silent reading. Underline words you don’t know. Comprehension.
5:45 Poster: Match the Q & A Get kid to hand out two questions to each person. One person reads the question aloud. One person stands by poster and looks for answers and reads Q&A. The questioner then moves to poster. x 10. Comprehension. Speaking.
6:00 Song: If you’re happy… Model Stand and sing. Movement.
6:05 J sound Tell them to get out pens and paper and write what I’m writing:

Huge, gigantic, large, giant, endangered. Verify comprehension. If one kid gets the sound right, have him repeat it and they copy.

Write the words. Listen to sound from me and each other. Recognize and practice a new sound.
6:15 Trick questions All dinosaurs eat meat. Dinosaurs were bigger than blue whales. There are no more ibexes alive. Dinosaurs died because a huge elephant hit the planet Earth. All horses are endangered. The giant panda eats hamburgers. Chorale: true or false. What is the right answer? Comprehension and sentence formation.
